Radon

Radon is the natural breakdown of radium.  This breakdown releases radon, a non-odorous radioactive gas that is hazardous to human health.  Radon can accumulate in homes, particularly attics and basements, and can be tested with a simple radon test.

The radon test consists of canisters that would be placed on the lowest inhabitable floors of the home for a few days.  The kits are then analyzed with very specialized equipment.  If the home is high for radon, several options to reduce radon are available.

Please see the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) website to learn more about the hazards of radon: https://www.epa.gov/radon
